Dental Implants

Introducing Dental Implants

If you have missing teeth or loose dentures, we can provide you with implants as a long-term investment and solution. Talk to our dentists at Waterside Dental Practice to see if implants are suitable for your needs.

Long-term dental fixtures

Dental Implants are a permanent fixture in your jaw bone. Whether it is a single tooth or implant retained dentures, they are an advanced solution for many dental problems. Remember what it feels like to have normal teeth back or restore your function you have lost over the years. It could be following an accident or a tooth that is failing, dental implants are suitable for a majority of patients and can offer solutions patients weren't even aware of. With regular maintenance treatments, you can potentially make the implants last for decades saving you time, money and further dental issues. Most patients are pleasantly surprised at the whole process and are amazed how little pain and simple the procedure can be.

Who can get the implants fitted?

The majority of patients are suitable for implants as long as they have sufficient bone. We stock a wide variety of implants to select the most suitable implant for your jaw. Our Implantologist, Dr McCauley, is also very experienced and is able to offer additional treatments such as bone grafting and sinus lifts if you require additional treatment to make implants possible. Please rest assured most patients can have implants without these procedures however it sounds a lot scarier than it actually is.

The process of fitting the implants

We require an initial consultation to check your suitability and plan your dental treatment. At first, a screw is placed into the jawbone and left for 6-8 weeks to integrate into the bone and heal.  When returning to us after this period we take an impression of your implant which is sent to the laboratory. They then custom make your crown/bridge/denture which we fit approximately 3 weeks later. All cases are treated individually however this is an approximate guideline. At the fit appointment a component called an abutment is attached to the screw and the crown/bridge cemented on top. The abutment is the anchor for the dental crown or dentures that will be fitted.

As the implants are customised for each patient, the costs involved will vary. We will provide you with a detailed estimate before the treatment begins at your initial consultation with us
Nikos literally saved my daughters teeth! She had a nasty trampoline accident and had her adult front tooth and entire root headbutted out of her mouth. Nikos saw her as an emergency and managed to reinsert the tooth and restore the blood supply to the root and despite all the odds being against it - the tooth is strong and perfect now and it has been for years! Forever grateful!
